Brandi Norman: “I’ve never been anywhere else.”
For Brandi and her mother, selecting Kamm McKenzie as their care provider was a family affair: She and her mother started going to the practice together when Brandi was 16 years old. Later, Kamm McKenzie doctors delivered both of her children—Daniel (who is now 13) and Chaney (who is 2). Daniel enjoys soccer, while Chaney, as a typical 2-year-old, is into everything. But there was nothing typical about Brandi’s experience at Kamm McKenzie: Chaney’s delivery presented several challenges.
During Brandi’s pregnancy, she became severely dehydrated and had to be admitted to the hospital. Later, Brandi’s water broke at 32 weeks, and as a result, she had to be in the hospital for 2 ½ weeks. There were other issues as well--Brandi was scheduled to have a C-section due to the baby’s position. Thankfully, Dr. Harden was able to perform a “version” on her, which is where the doctor is able to move the baby while he/she is in the womb, moving the fetus into the correct position. This not only helped her avoid a C-section, but she was able to deliver vaginally again.
“This is something I’m truly grateful for, and the nurses at the hospital raved about how quickly and efficiently he accomplished the version,” she said.
Chaney was born premature and has had to have therapy to “catch up” to developmental milestones. Brandi isn’t worried because it appears Chaney is easily making up for lost time.
“I have seen most of the doctors at Kamm McKenzie and I recommend them to everybody,” she said. “I’ve never been anywhere else—I have no reason to. It’s very rare to get all doctors and staff that are both really knowledgeable and have a great bedside manner. All of the doctors work well together, and they are all on the same page. The nurses were all great during my pregnancy.”
